For a family that’s built a life on love songs and loud laughter, this might be the sweetest chorus yet.
Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren Akins have welcomed a baby boy — and judging by their joy-filled announcement, their world just grew a little louder, a little fuller, and a whole lot bluer.

“Oh. my. goodness. Our hearts are just in a big ole puddle with this precious baby BOY,” Lauren wrote on Instagram, the caption punctuated with blue hearts and playful nods to ducks, deer, baseballs and fish, a subtle wink that the Akins household is officially adding a new dynamic to its sister-powered lineup.
Brave Elijah Akins arrived last week weighing nearly 10 pounds, and nearly two weeks early. “Thank you Jesus this big boy didn’t wait another 2 weeks to be born,” Lauren shared, equal parts awe and relief in her words.
But it wasn’t just the size of the baby that made the moment unforgettable. It was the scene inside the delivery room.
According to Lauren, Thomas Rhett wasn’t just present, he was pivotal. “Thomas Rhett was my biggest champion in labor & delivery,” she wrote. In a moment that feels almost too cinematic to script, the country superstar helped deliver his son and was the first to lay eyes on him. Tearful and stunned, he announced to the room, “It’s a BOY.”
After four daughters, Willa Gray, Ada James, Lennon Love and Lillie Carolina, the couple chose to keep baby No. 5 a surprise. When they first announced the pregnancy in early November 2025, they left the gender under wraps, embracing the anticipation. Now, that long-awaited reveal has turned into one of the most emotional milestones of their lives.
For a family so beautifully defined by girl-dad energy, Brave’s arrival marks a new chapter. And yet, if you’ve followed Thomas Rhett’s career, you know fatherhood has always been the throughline. From arena stages to award shows, he has consistently pointed back to home, to Lauren, to their children, to the everyday miracles that shape his songwriting and spirit.
Now, that story expands.
“We are so grateful God chose us to have YOU cutie pie,” Lauren wrote. “Your four sisters are smitten and we are completely over the moon in love with you big Brave boy.”
It’s a name that feels intentional. Brave, strong, bold, steadfast. A fitting addition to a family that has never been shy about living loudly in their faith, their love, and their gratitude.
Somewhere between diaper changes and late-night lullabies, there’s likely a melody forming already. But for now, there’s just a big ole puddle of joy, five children deep, and two parents who sound completely overwhelmed in the best possible way.
And for Thomas Rhett, the man who’s written so many love songs, this may be his most meaningful verse yet.
