Thirty-five years later, Brooks & Dunn are going back to where it all began.
The legendary country duo is celebrating the 35th anniversary of their career-launching debut album, Brand New Man, with something fans have never gotten before: the album’s first-ever vinyl pressing, arriving October 23.
The milestone announcement comes exactly as Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn prepare to celebrate the record at the Grand Ole Opry, marking another full-circle moment for an album that helped shape the sound, swagger and larger-than-life spirit of ’90s country.
Originally released on August 13, 1991, Brand New Man didn’t simply introduce Brooks & Dunn, it kicked the doors wide open.
Across 10 self-penned tracks, Brooks and Dunn blended honky-tonk tradition with rock ’n’ roll energy, sharp songwriting and two unmistakable voices. The result became the blueprint for a career packed with massive hits, arena-sized shows and a catalog that remains woven into the fabric of country music more than three decades later.
And despite becoming one of the defining country albums of its era, Brand New Man has never previously been available on vinyl.
That changes this fall.
“When we released Brand New Man, we were two songwriters trying to make the best record we could and hoping people would connect with it,” Brooks shares. “To see those songs still finding their way to new fans 35 years later is something we never could have imagined. Getting to finally put this album on vinyl and celebrate where it all started is pretty special.”
Dunn echoed the sentiment, crediting the duo’s fans for keeping the music alive across generations.
“We never set out to make a record that would still be talked about 35 years later, we were just two crazy guys chasing the Nashville dream,” Dunn says. “The fans are the reason these songs have lasted, and seeing the younger generation connect with them is what keeps it exciting. Brand New Man will always be a special part of our story.”
That story has become one of country music’s most enduring.
What began with two Nashville songwriters chasing a dream eventually turned Brooks & Dunn into Country Music Hall of Famers and the best-selling country duo of all time. Along the way, they helped define an era, brought line dancing roaring back into the mainstream and delivered songs that still pack dance floors and concert venues today.
Now, 35 years after Brand New Man first arrived during the cassette era, fans will finally get the chance to drop the needle on the album that started it all.
