Bunnie XO and Jelly Roll Embark on Surrogacy Journey to Expand Their Family

Country music fans know Bunnie XO and her husband, Jelly Roll, as a dynamic duo, both in their personal lives and careers. The couple, who tied the knot in 2016, has decided to take a significant step towards expanding their family. Bunnie XO recently opened up about their plans to welcome babies via surrogacy on her podcast "Dumb Blonde."

During the July 2 episode, Bunnie, 44, shared their long-standing desire to have children together. While they began seeing a fertility specialist in 2019, it wasn't until this year that they felt mentally and financially prepared to proceed with in vitro fertilization (IVF) using a surrogate. This will be Bunnie's first child with 39-year-old Jelly Roll, who is already a father to two children, 16-year-old Bailee Ann and 7-year-old Noah Buddy.

Reflecting on their journey, Bunnie said, "This journey with IVF, we sat down a couple months ago. And I was just like, I feel like I've accomplished so much in my life. And the only thing that's left is to raise a baby and garden. I'm in my baby mama (and) gardening era."

Jelly Roll's reaction to the idea was nothing short of enthusiastic. Bunnie recounted, "J was like ... I would love to have a baby with you. And that was not the response that I thought he would say. I was just like, 'Wow, really? Have you always felt like that?' He was like, 'Yeah, I will always have a baby with you. If you want to have a baby, cool. If you don't, cool. Whatever you want to do.' So now he's, like, really excited about it."

As of now, the couple is still in the early stages of their IVF process and has not finalized their plans. They are contemplating the possibility of having twins, specifically twin boys, but nothing is set in stone. They aim to begin the implantation process in February 2025.

Initially, Bunnie and Jelly Roll intended to keep their fertility journey private. However, Jelly Roll shared their plans on the June 4 episode of the "Bussin' With The Boys" podcast, and the couple decided to embrace the public nature of their experience. Bunnie posted a clip from the podcast on social media, captioning it, "God Willing- Baby DeFord 2026."

In the video, Bunnie added a heartfelt message: "We had planned on doing this privately, but decided our IVF journey needed to be shared because we’ve always been so open. And (with) all odds stacked against us, it’s already been hard (and) we have only just begun. We have been meeting (with) IVF doctors (and) exploring all our options to add to our family.”

On the season finale of her podcast, Bunnie provided further clarification on their family planning, stating, "I'm just going to be honest with you guys. I am not going to carry the baby. I am not mentally well enough to let my hormones get out of whack." She emphasized the importance of mental health, adding, "I have gotten to a place where I'm even-keeled. My anxiety is finally good. I don't have depression — of course I have down days and stuff like that, but nothing like what I went through in 2019."

Bunnie XO and Jelly Roll's openness about their journey offers hope and inspiration to many couples facing similar challenges. As they continue to navigate this exciting new chapter, their fans eagerly await the day Baby DeFord joins the family.
