Today the rising country songstress showcases a new side of her artistry with the dynamic Smoke Too Soon.
The North Carolina native dives a little bit deeper into her lyrical arsenal for this one. Through vivid storytelling and a healthy dash of sass, Carter tells the timeless tale of a good for nothing man that only leaves a trail of problems. The retro sounding track shows off the risers never ending range, offering an edgier side of the often delicate songstress.
“I don't think it's something people have heard from me yet, lyrically or sonically and I am so pumped to play it live,” Faith shares. “I think I have been missing some amazing live songs so I am really excited about that," Carter said in a press statement.
Says, I'm way too petty, guess he
Don't think I'm funny the way I do
I'm way too messy, getting ready
Spilling glitter and littering his place with shoes
Spend all my money on bullshit
And all my time on booze
I could but I can't help that
I sleep in way too late
And I smoke too soon
The chorus oozes confidence and allows Faith to truly show off her full potential.
The dynamic tune was written by Faith with Lauren Hungate, Caroline Watkins and GRAMMY® nominated Tofer Brown (Jon Pardi, Little Big Town, Kelsea Ballerini), is a welcomed return to the strong storytelling that the genre is built on. Plus, there is nothing better than a snapback anthem from a strong female artist.
Carter Faith's artistry is tested in Smoke Too Soon, but damn does this powerhouse rise to the occasion!
