Chatting with HUNTERGIRL: Unveiling the Story Behind "Bad Boy"

Updated: May 20

As the country music scene continues to evolve, there's a fresh breeze blowing in with the latest single from rising star HUNTERGIRL.

With her new track "Bad Boy" making waves, All Country News sat down and chatted with one of the genres most authentic new talents. Digging into the inspiration behind the song to her excitement about performing it live on tour with heavyweights like Luke Bryan and Katy Perry, and even her dad's reaction, here's an inside look at our conversation:

Unveiling the Inspiration:

Behind every great song lies a story, and "Bad Boy" is no exception. HUNTERGIRL revealed that the inspiration for the fun loving track is her own horrible taste in men.

"I think bad boys have been my top choice for as long as I can remember," HUNTERGIRL told All Country News. "If there's a mean-looking one in the corner, I'm like, "Oh my god, he looks so nice." And if he's jaded and has a ton of tattoos, I'm like, "Oh my god, I can fix him." You know, so whenever we were coming up with a song idea, I've just been singing one of the hooks of the song over and over, and I was like, "I don't really know what this is yet."

"I got into the writing room with my producer and another writer in town, Greg, and we sat down. I was like, "I just want to have some fun today and write something a little different." We ended up coming up with this song, and I had 'bad boy' in my phone like the little voice memo. It was me singing 'really got it bad for bad boy' over and over. They all started laughing. We're like, "Let's just do it. Let's lean into it." And we came up with this song. Looking back on the relationships that I've had, I was like, "Yeah, this fits."

With its catchy melodies and honest lyrics, "Bad Boy" speaks to anyone who's ever been drawn to someone they know they shouldn't. In a genre where real world inspiration, connects, the single serves as a creative triumph. Not to mention a testament to HUNTERGIRL's innate ability to connect with listeners on a fun yet personal level.

Excitement Building for the Tour:

As if releasing a hit single wasn't exciting enough, HUNTERGIRL is gearing up to take her music on the road with none other than Luke Bryan and Katy Perry.

"I think what I'm looking forward to most is just the fun and excitement of being on tour with Luke, somebody I've looked up to my whole life, and singing a song like this. We started singing it with the band, and just seeing people jump and get excited. I feel like music is so special because there are songs that make you cry and think about your life, songs that get you through really hard times, and songs that make you forget about life right now, offering an escape, you know? So I think what I'm most looking forward to is just jumping around, singing with the fans, and having a good time with everybody."

From sold-out arenas to intimate venues, HUNTERGIRL is ready to bring her infectious energy and powerhouse vocals to audiences far and wide. With "Bad Boy" set to be a highlight of her setlist, fans can expect an unforgettable concert experience that will leave them craving more.

Dad's Reaction:

When asked about her dad's reaction to "Bad Boy," HUNTERGIRL couldn't help but giggle.

One of my favorite lines in the song is, "My dad's really going to hate this song." It was funny; whenever I showed it to him, he'd say, "Oh my gosh, what's wrong with you?" I'd reply, "I'm sorry, Dad. I just love the tattoos."

Despite any initial reservations, HUNTERGIRL's dad is undoubtedly proud of her success and the passion she brings to her music. After all, what parent wouldn't be thrilled to see their child living out their dreams on stage?

Bringing The Story To Life:

With "Bad Boy" captivating listeners far and wide, whispers of a potential music video have begun to swirl. Offering a visual feast to complement the song's irresistible energy and magnetic charm, the prospect of bringing "Bad Boy" to life on screen is both thrilling and tantalizing.

"We're definitely in the works right now and I cannot wait to just lean into the creative part of the music video. And so yeah, we're working on it right now and coming up with some fun concepts, but I think this music video will be, you know, a really fun time and just exciting and crazy and I'm really excited for that part."

"I think it shows a different side of me. I've been working on this new EP and everything, wanting each song to represent a different facet of my personality and who I am as a person, aiming to connect with people. I've started posting this song online and seeing the fun comments, with people saying things like, "Oh my gosh, this is the Situationship anthem," or "Gosh, I feel targeted," or any of these things. I believe every song has its lane, and this song, I think, is just hard to describe. It represents the side of my personality that's fun, kind of goofy, and reflects my taste in men, whether it's good or not."

HUNTERGIRL's enthusiasm for her craft is infectious, and it's clear that she's destined for greatness in the world of country music. With "Bad Boy" leading the way, there's no telling where her career will take her next. One thing's for sure: HUNTERGIRL is a country music dynamo, and we eagerly anticipate her next moves.
