CMT Unveils Its Next Women of Country Class of 2025: A Star-Studded Surprise with Lauren Alaina

In a moment filled with excitement, emotion, and a touch of country music magic, CMT has officially unveiled its Next Women of Country (NWOC) Class of 2025. The highly anticipated announcement continues CMT’s longstanding tradition of championing rising female talent in country music—a much-needed initiative in a genre where women often have to fight harder for radio play and industry recognition.

This year’s inductees include a powerhouse lineup of emerging artists: Alexandra Kay, Dasha, Kaitlin Butts, Kat Luna, Lanie Gardner, Meghan Patrick, and MŌRIAH. Each of these artists brings a unique sound, style, and story to the table, making the Class of 2025 one of the most dynamic groups in NWOC history.

Elevating the Future of Women in Country Music

Since its inception in 2013, CMT’s Next Women of Country campaign has played a crucial role in amplifying female voices in a genre that historically skews male-dominated. With a mission to provide visibility and career-changing opportunities for emerging female artists, NWOC has helped launch the careers of heavy-hitters such as Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris, Lainey Wilson, Carly Pearce, and Gabby Barrett. Now in its 12th year, the program has named 132 female artists to its ranks, reinforcing its status as one of country music’s most influential platforms for female discovery.

The Class of 2025 is set to receive a yearlong wave of cross-brand support, including music video airplay on CMT and CMT Music, placements on PlutoTV’s ‘CMT Equal Play’ channel, and exposure on CMT Hot 20 Countdown, CMT Digital, and across the network’s social media platforms. Additionally, their music will be featured on curated Apple Music and Spotify playlists, providing valuable streaming visibility.

Meet the Next Women of Country: Class of 2025

Each artist in the 2025 class brings something fresh to the table, blending traditional country roots with modern influences.

  • Alexandra Kay has taken social media by storm, boasting over 8.5 million followers and proving that independent artists can carve out massive success. Fresh off the release of her debut album All I’ve Ever Known, Kay is gearing up for her sophomore record with the infectious single “Cupid’s A Cowgirl.”

  • Dasha is a force to be reckoned with, earning breakout success with her viral hit “Austin (Boots Stop Workin’).” After a year of sold-out headlining tours, major festival appearances, and performances on Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve, she’s ready to keep her momentum rolling in 2025.

  • Kaitlin Butts brings fearless storytelling and theatrical flair to country music. With her critically acclaimed album Roadrunner!, she’s redefining the modern cowgirl sound, drawing comparisons to the legendary Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! soundtrack.

  • Kat Luna is on a journey of reinvention. The former half of Kat & Alex, Luna is now making waves as a solo artist, blending her Cuban-American roots with country storytelling. Her debut solo EP, That Girl, has already turned heads, and she’s just getting started.

  • Lanie Gardner is a viral sensation whose soulful country vocals have captivated audiences worldwide. Initially gaining traction with her Fleetwood Mac covers, Gardner is now stepping into her own artistry with original music that blends classic country with modern pop influences.

  • Meghan Patrick is no stranger to the spotlight, with multiple CCMA wins and a reputation for bringing grit and authenticity to her music. A dynamic performer, Patrick’s blend of outlaw country and heartfelt storytelling continues to set her apart.

  • MŌRIAH is a genre-defying talent who weaves elements of pop, rock, and country into her music. With an evocative voice and bold songwriting, she’s poised to make a significant impact on the country music landscape.

A Legacy of Empowerment

Over the years, the Next Women of Country initiative has been a launching pad for some of the genre’s most celebrated female voices. With the continued support of CMT and an industry-wide push for equal representation, the Class of 2025 is stepping into the spotlight at the perfect time.

For fans eager to follow along, CMT encourages engagement on social media using the hashtag #CMTNextWomen. Whether through playlist features, television appearances, or headline-making performances, these seven women are ready to make their mark—and country music is all the better for it.
