With a voice that can hush a room or shake the rafters of a church pew, Dave Fenley has always been an artist driven by feeling first. Whether he’s reimagining a classic cover on YouTube or pouring his soul into an original song, fans have long connected to the honesty in his delivery. Now, with the release of his long-awaited third studio album, REST OF MY LIFE, Fenley isn’t just showcasing his powerhouse vocals, he’s opening the door to the most personal chapter of his career yet.

Available now via Walk Off Entertainment, the 11-track project marks Fenley’s first full-length album in 15 years and finds the singer-songwriter leaning harder into the soulful influences that have quietly shaped him all along. Blending country, gospel, and soul into something warm, reflective, and deeply human, REST OF MY LIFE feels less like a reinvention and more like an artist finally arriving exactly where he was always meant to be.
Ahead of the album’s release, Fenley sat down with All Country News to discuss the deeply personal inspiration behind the project, embracing the soulful side of his artistry, and how fatherhood and marriage completely reshaped the way he writes about love.
“Creating this album has been an incredibly rewarding experience for me,” Fenley shared. “It means the world to be able to put out an album that truly reflects who I am as an artist and a songwriter.”
That authenticity sits at the center of every note on the record. From the spiritual warmth of opening track “Waiting For” to the slow-burning intensity of “One Hell Of A Fire,” Fenley delivers songs that feel lived-in rather than manufactured. There’s a sense throughout the album that he isn’t chasing trends or radio formulas, he’s chasing truth.
And according to Fenley, that emotional honesty is exactly what pushed him to embrace the soulful side of his voice more fully than ever before.
“I’ve always been drawn to the emotion of music, no matter what genre it was,” he explained to All Country News. “When I started releasing cover songs on YouTube, people really seemed to respond to the delivery of those soulful records. So I started compiling my songs that I had written in that vein and we almost had a full album worth.”
What followed was a creative process rooted not in strategy, but instinct. Fenley and his collaborators continued writing while searching for songs that could complete the emotional landscape of the project. The result is an album that feels cohesive not because it was meticulously engineered that way, but because every song comes from the same honest place.
“It was an incredible process and I’m so proud of how it turned out,” he added.
While Fenley’s vocal performance may initially draw listeners in, it’s the emotional weight behind the songs that gives REST OF MY LIFE its staying power. Much of that emotional core comes from his life away from the stage, specifically his role as a husband and father.
“Becoming a husband and a father changes everything really,” Fenley admitted during his conversation with All Country News. “Love songs mean so much more now that I understand true unconditional love.”
That revelation fundamentally changed the way he approached songwriting. Romantic songs no longer feel theoretical or idealized; they feel grounded, tangible, and permanent. That shift ultimately inspired the album’s title itself.
“That’s what kinda led to the title Rest Of My Life because for the first time, I see my future…and I love it!”
That perspective shines especially bright on standout tracks like “Pretty Face,” where Fenley looks beyond surface beauty to celebrate the deeper connection he shares with his wife. Meanwhile, the title track becomes the emotional centerpiece of the album, a heartfelt meditation on gratitude, commitment, and cherishing the fleeting moments that make up a life.
Despite weaving in timeless influences, including his rendition of Lionel Richie’s “Stuck On You,” Fenley never sounds trapped in nostalgia. Instead, he approaches every song with the same guiding principle: sincerity.
“First off, I don’t really give it that much thought because art isn’t a thoughtful process to me,” Fenley told All Country News with a laugh. “I just kinda write what I feel and what I know and sing my songs with honesty and integrity.”
That mindset may be exactly why his music resonates so deeply. In an era where so much can feel curated or calculated, Fenley’s work carries an unmistakable sense of believability.
“Is it a sound that’s distinctly my own? I can’t say,” he continued. “Is it true to me? One hundred percent. I think that’s why people listen to me really. They believe me.”
That honesty extends into the sonic identity of the album as well. REST OF MY LIFE manages to feel both timeless and refreshingly current, a balance many artists strive for but few genuinely achieve. Ironically, Fenley says that wasn’t necessarily intentional.
“That’s honestly beyond me! Haha,” he joked. “I wrote songs on a guitar and rarely know what a finished product could, would, or should sound like.”
Instead, Fenley credits producer Jeff Huskins for helping transform his raw ideas into something expansive and cinematic while still preserving the heart behind every lyric.
“I really lean on the pros who know how to take my clumsy ideas and turn them into magical musical experiences,” he said. “Thanks to my producer Jeff Huskins for steering this ship in a direction that we are all so proud of.”
At its core, REST OF MY LIFE isn’t just an album about love, it’s about perspective. It’s about a man who has lived enough life to recognize what truly matters and an artist confident enough to let vulnerability lead the way. Fenley doesn’t hide behind polish or perfection here. Instead, he invites listeners into the messiness, beauty, gratitude, and grace that define real life.
“My wife, daughter and family are the heart of this project,” Fenley shared. “This one is for them.”
And in many ways, that’s exactly why REST OF MY LIFE feels so powerful. Beneath the soaring vocals and soulful production lies something increasingly rare in modern music: a record that genuinely means something to the person who made it.
