Dustin Lynch and MacKenzie Porter Notch Top Spot in 2022’s Mediabase Year-End Country Chart
Dustin Lynch has had quite the year in 2022, being on the road for the “Party Mode Tour” for the entire summer. For Dustin, there’s clearly one song that he feels is sung the loudest night in and night out.
“Thinking ‘Bout You” has had a long running journey. Debuting in 2020 on Dustin’s Tullahoma album, it was quickly a fan favorite. As popularity soared, he knew this jam was one needing to get to country radio. The problem arose when the song was ready to go to radio in 2021, it interfered with Lauren’s promotional plans for her upcoming album, which led to Dustin quickly re-recording the track with MacKenzie Porter. From there, the hit casually broke a 1990 Billboard record by spending 28 straight weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard Country Airplay chart. This was Dustin’s 8th #1 song.
On tour, it’s no surprise that fans have had roaring reactions to the live performance of the song. In a recent interview with HollywoodLife, Dustin said:
“It’s definitely the biggest moment, loudest moment of our show right now. Just because fans are loving on that song, and it continues to change our lives.”

The end of the year brought Dustin and MacKenzie some pretty stellar news. Mediabase released their year-end country chart for 2022 and “Thinking ‘Bout You” secured the #1 spot. An ecstatic Dustin Lynch took to Instagram to share the news, and the classic Dustin smile was out in full force:
“I’m feeling very grateful. And I’m thankful for all of you country music lovin’ people, all of my friends at country radio, you guys made us #1 in 2022 with ‘Thinkin’ ‘Bout You’. And this is the 2nd year of this song’s lifetime. It’s pretty incredible. This is something that I’ve never dreamed of, but I’m glad that this dream came true, and I want to say thank you for all the yeses, all the nos, all the ‘you cans’, all the ‘you cants’ along the way. I take all of that and use it as inspiration. And it’s gotten me to where I’m sitting right here today on Music Row… I hope to continue to make you proud. Let’s get some more music out there soon! Get ready.”
Rounding out the top 5 of the year-end chart was Cody Johnson’s “Til You Can’t”, Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood’s “If I Didn’t Love You”, Parmalee’s “Take My Name”, and Morgan Wallen’s “Sand In My Boots”. Dustin and MacKenzie’s #1 charting hit was one of seven collaborations on the list of 25. Jason Aldean scored two top 10 hits, also charting at #8 with “Trouble With a Heartbreak”.
To put a bow on Dustin’s 2022 accomplishments, he finished #4 on the Mediabase Most Played Artists country chart for the year as well. Dustin’s fans will surely be looking forward to new music coming up in 2023.
