Clay Aery’s latest EP Fractions is more than just a collection of songs, it’s a statement. The Oklahoma native, former college athlete, and rising country artist is turning heads with his blend of traditional country storytelling and modern grit. Premiering exclusively today, Fractions offers a taste of what’s to come from Aery, and it’s a pitch-perfect delivery.
"The title-track "Fractions" was written by Tony Stampley and David Gamble. The song had a remarkable sound to me and a story that so many people could relate to, so I knew I had to cut it," Clay shared with All Country News. "Naming the EP Fractions, came naturally because it's a "fraction" of what will eventually lead to a full Album of authentic country music songs that I'm excited to share with the fans."
That sense of authenticity runs deep in Aery’s journey. Before stepping onto the stage, he was stepping up to the plate, an All-American baseball player with dreams of the big leagues. But when an injury sidelined his athletic future, Aery didn’t miss a beat. He picked up a guitar, started writing, and found his voice. By 2018, he was in Nashville, chasing a new kind of dream, one with a backbeat and a steel guitar.
Drawing from a well of influences that includes George Strait, Alan Jackson, Keith Whitley, and Travis Tritt, Aery fuses neo-traditional charm with a fresh, contemporary edge. His collaboration with Craig Wayne Boyd on the catchy “Beer in the Boat” hinted at what was to come. Follow-up singles “Only One” and “Time For That” made waves on the Texas Regional Radio Report, both cracking the Top 30 and helping Aery carve out a growing footprint on the scene.
With Fractions, produced by Bart Busch, Aery delivers his most cohesive and compelling work to date. The project includes honky-tonk-ready tracks like “Made an Outlaw of Me” and “Good Jeans,” alongside the more introspective and emotionally raw title track. It’s a well-rounded showcase that blends dancefloor swagger with lyrical sincerity, a delicate balance that Aery manages effortlessly.
Beyond the studio, Aery’s star is rising on stage as well. He’s already shared the spotlight with country stalwarts like Craig Campbell, Daryl Worley, Mark Wills, David Adam Byrnes, and Buddy Jewell. Known for his powerful live performances and natural rapport with audiences, Aery has built a fanbase that’s as loyal as it is growing. His summer tour includes high-profile stops at Cheyenne Frontier Days and Rock the Plains Music Festival, clear signs that Aery’s not just climbing, he’s surging.
In a genre that values roots, honesty, and the stories behind the songs, Clay Aery is proving he’s the real deal. Fractions may just be a piece of what’s to come, but if this is any indication, country music’s next chapter is in very good hands.
