Honing in on his craft and sticking to the stylings he grew up listening to, Jason Benoit strikes gold with his latest single. Soaked in authenticity, "25 To Life" offers an inside look and the journey of a troubled soul. The acoustic driven ballad narrates the juggernaut of emotions we as humans feel as we navigate the idiosyncrasies that life has to offer. From note to note, Jason evokes the emotion and the struggle he finds in trying to break the chains of his habits. Overcome with the mess his life has become, Jason ponders what he could have done to sway his own story.
Got 25 to Life to kick the habit
Of shootin' whiskey, drinkin' beer, and gettin' stoned
Well, I got 25 to life to think it over
To think about the life that he will never know
Oh, I will never know
Determined to bring his story forward style of country to life, the track shows off what a thoughtful tunesmith Jason is.
"Growing up on the Eastern edge of Canada, another huge Musical influence for me was Folk and Canadiana/Americana. So with the re-emergence of the Folk/Americana sound on the airwaves with the likes of Zach Bryan and Sam Barber, I was inspired to revisit this side of my musical influences and "25 to Life" is my first interpretation of this sound. This is the first single from a larger project that I'm excited to be producing using my Newfoundland Band, to hone in on the most authentic sound as possible," Jason told All Country News.
Benoit has performed at country music festivals such as Boots and Hearts Music Fest, and Cavendish Beach Music Festival. He was the only Canadian Country Artist to Perform at the 2017 Rock the Park Music Fest in London, Ontario, alongside Lady A, Kelsea Ballerini, and Brett Young. Benoit's album Time Traveller received a nomination for "Alternative Country Album of the Year" at the 2023 Canadian Country Music Awards.
