Recently, Arendt sat down with All Country News to take fans behind the story of “The Same,” reflect on the lessons and unforgettable moments from his American Idol journey, and open up about what it’s been like bringing his two biggest passions, country music and baseball, together with the Texas Tailgaters. The Story Behind “The Same”
While heartbreak has inspired countless country songs over the years, Arendt approaches the familiar subject from an especially relatable perspective: what happens when the songs you once loved become tied to memories of someone who is no longer in your life.
“The song tells a story that is all too common...an old relationship that is done and gone, leaving scars behind,” Arendt shared. “Those scars always seem to pop back up and bring pain and sorrow.”
Instead of focusing solely on the relationship itself, “The Same” examines how music can unexpectedly bring those old feelings rushing back.
“This song is written about the songs that bring back the memories, opening the scars,” he explained. “We have all been there, good or bad, and those songs no longer sound ‘The Same.’”
It’s a feeling that many listeners will immediately understand. Sometimes a song that once brought happiness can take on an entirely new meaning after heartbreak, transforming into a reminder of a person, relationship or moment that has since become part of the past.

Lessons From ‘American Idol’
Arendt previously had the opportunity to showcase his talents on American Idol, an experience that put him alongside an impressive group of fellow artists and challenged him to figure out exactly who he wanted to be as a performer.
“Being surrounded by so many talented artists pushed me to find myself as an artist and performer,” he explained. “It pushed me to dig into my strengths and find how I can connect with the audience in my own authentic way.”
Being surrounded by that much talent also left Arendt asking himself an important question: “What makes you stand out?”
Finding that answer became one of the biggest lessons he carried away from the experience.
“The biggest lesson I took away from American Idol was to be comfortable being myself,” Arendt shared. “To find what you do best and lean on those skills.”
While viewers get to see the performances and high-pressure moments that happen in front of the cameras, some of Arendt’s favorite memories came from the quieter moments behind the scenes.
“I had some of the best times of my life sitting in a circle in the waiting room with so many talented artists, playing songs and sharing the stories that shaped them,” he recalled.
Those experiences helped Arendt gain confidence in his identity as an artist, but his journey since American Idol has continued to push him outside of his comfort zone.
Combining His Love Of Music And Baseball
Today, Arendt is getting the chance to bring two major pieces of his life together through the Texas Tailgaters.
As part of the Banana Ball world, the Texas Tailgaters deliver a high-energy baseball experience that blends competition with entertainment. For Arendt, it has also provided something he once wasn’t sure would be possible: the opportunity to pursue baseball and music at the same time.
“It’s everything I have ever dreamed of,” he admitted. “For years I was always told I would have to choose between baseball and music. The Texas Tailgaters have given me the opportunity to combine the two and it has been a dream come true.”
Instead of choosing one passion over the other, Arendt now gets to perform his music while also competing in the sport he loves.
“Each weekend I get to play my music while competing in the sport I love in front of tens of thousands of fans all over the country,” he shared. “It doesn’t hurt to be a part of a group that is so supportive as well. It is truly special and something I’ll cherish for years to come.”
The experience has also changed the way he thinks about entertaining an audience.
Pushing The Limits With The Texas Tailgaters
Of all the experiences Arendt has encountered so far, his time with the Texas Tailgaters and Banana Ball may have pushed him outside his comfort zone the most.
“Banana Ball and the Texas Tailgaters is built on the foundation of doing what others won’t,” he explained.
That mentality has encouraged Arendt to take chances, think differently and continue finding new ways to connect with the people watching.
“I have learned so much about myself, my music, and entertainment to the core by pushing the limits of what is possible each and every weekend,” he continued. “It has taught me to strive for more no matter what situation you are in. Those lessons will last a lifetime in any facet of life.”

Arendt’s journey may be unconventional, but that’s quickly becoming part of what makes it so exciting.
From standing among fellow hopefuls on American Idol to performing his own music and taking the field with the Texas Tailgaters, each chapter has helped him become more confident in what he brings to the table.
