Jon Wolfe Finds Redemption in “Barstool Therapy” and Ushers in a New Era of Country Truth-Telling

Country traditionalist Jon Wolfe is pulling up a barstool and inviting listeners into his most honest chapter yet. His latest single, “Barstool Therapy," sets the stage for his forthcoming project, Barstool Therapy: Session One, due November 7, 2025. Produced by GRAMMY-nominated Dave Brainard, the record blends Wolfe’s tried-and-true Oklahoma grit with a fresh dose of honky-tonk polish.

The title track doesn’t just set the tone; it is the tone. Drenched in neon glow and whiskey-soaked heartache, “Barstool Therapy” is part confessional, part anthem, a reminder that some of country music’s most timeless stories don’t unfold in stadiums or on big stages, but in the quiet space between a bartender’s nod and an empty glass.

“Country music has always been about honesty, and sometimes the simplest stories carry the deepest weight,” Wolfe shares of the new song. “Barstool Therapy came from real-life moments…those late nights when you’re working through heartbreak or hard times, and the only person listening is the bartender serving you. This album is the most personal collection of songs I’ve ever put together, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it in November.”

That sentiment isn’t just lip service, it’s the throughline of the entire project. With Session One, Wolfe doubles down on the kind of storytelling that first put him on the map: straightforward, deeply human, and undeniably country. Fans can expect an album that feels both rugged and refined, cut from the same cloth as Wolfe’s Okie swagger and outlaw musicality but sharpened with Brainard’s studio finesse.

If Wolfe’s past catalog built his reputation as a keeper of the flame, Barstool Therapy proves he’s ready to let that fire burn brighter than ever. This isn’t just another country record, it’s a reminder of why people belly up to a bar in the first place: to remember, to forget, and to find the kind of truth you can only sip slowly.
