Jordan Fletcher’s Classic EP: A 5-Year Journey from Nashville Staple to Solo Star

For years, Jordan Fletcher has been the man behind the curtain of some of Nashville’s biggest hits. As a trusted songwriter, he’s penned tracks for stars like Jake Owen, Megan Moroney, and Ella Langley. But with his new EP Classic, Fletcher is stepping out of the shadows and into the spotlight, sharing songs that reveal his own story and solidifying his place as an artist in his own right.

In an exclusive interview with All Country News, Fletcher opened up about the long and winding road to Classic, a project five years in the making. These six songs didn’t just come to him overnight—they’ve been following him around, waiting for their moment to be heard.

“We started this project in Austin Nivarel’s attic five years ago,” Fletcher recalls. “At the time, we didn’t really know what we were creating. We were just playing around with different sounds and ideas. But as the songs started to take shape, I realized they weren’t just random tracks—I was writing the story of my own life.”

Originally, Fletcher had planned to pitch some of these songs to other artists in town, something he’d done successfully for years. But as he worked on the EP, something clicked: these weren’t just good songs, they were his songs, and no one else could tell these stories the way he could.

“These songs are definitely mine,” Fletcher admits. “It’s funny, I spent so much time thinking about who else could sing them, but in the end, they were meant for me. Making this EP was cathartic in a way—it was like I finally gave myself permission to own these stories.”

One of the standout tracks on the EP is “No Place Like Home,” a tender and introspective song that delves into the conflicting emotions of moving away from the place you grew up. Fletcher’s vocals shine as he explores the bittersweet reality of trying to create a new sense of home in unfamiliar territory.

“I was right in the middle of that weird in-between space when I wrote it,” Fletcher explains. “I had left my hometown, but I wasn’t quite settled in my new place yet. It’s a tough transition, and I think anyone who’s moved away from home can relate to it. That song kind of wrote itself—it gave me the answers I was looking for.”

The beauty of “No Place Like Home” lies in its simplicity and honesty. It’s not trying to sugarcoat the experience of leaving the past behind, but rather it captures the raw emotions that come with change. As Fletcher puts it, “These songs are smarter than I am.”

But Classic isn’t just about introspection. The EP showcases Fletcher’s ability to blend thoughtfulness with clever storytelling, as demonstrated by the track “About Jill.” This standout song takes a fresh spin on the classic Jack and Jill nursery rhyme, offering a witty and imaginative narrative that highlights Fletcher’s creativity and knack for wordplay.

“‘About Jill’ is one of my favorites because it’s so different from everything else on the EP,” Fletcher says. “The first half of the project is fun and easy to get into, but the second half, especially this song, is more methodical and thoughtful. I actually pitched it to some female artists at first, but in the end, I’m glad I got to keep it.”

With just a few well-placed guitar notes and clever lyrics, “About Jill” delivers a punch that leaves listeners thinking long after the song is over. It’s one of those tracks that demands a second listen to fully appreciate the depth of its storytelling.

“The whole EP is kind of like that,” Fletcher continues. “It’s not just a collection of songs—it’s a story. It’s my story. Each track is important because it represents a different chapter in my life. From high school days in ‘Classic,’ to falling in love in ‘Fall in the Summer,’ to moving away in ‘No Place Like Home,’ these songs take you through 30 years of life and 10 years of songwriting.”

The journey Fletcher takes listeners on is one of growth and self-discovery. It’s not just about the big moments, but about the in-between times—those transitions that shape who we are. In six songs, Fletcher manages to capture the essence of what it means to be human, to evolve, and to embrace change, all while staying true to his roots.

Classic is a project that  any country music fan can find themselves in. Whether you’re in that awkward in-between stage of life, falling in love, or just trying to figure out where home really is, there’s something here for everyone.

From start to finish, Classic is an EP that begs to be played on repeat. Each track is a piece of the larger puzzle that makes up Jordan Fletcher’s journey, and together, they paint a picture of an artist who is ready to step into the spotlight. With his authentic storytelling, clever wordplay, and heartfelt delivery, Fletcher proves that he’s more than just a Nashville hitmaker—he’s a rising star in his own right. With Classic, Jordan Fletcher has given us a glimpse of the future, and it looks pretty bright. This EP is not just a collection of songs—it’s a declaration. Jordan Fletcher has arrived, and he’s here to stay.
