Kenny Chesney Opens the Gates to Silver Sands Marina With New Track List, Megan Moroney Collaboration and Plenty of Life Lessons

Kenny Chesney has spent decades turning stadiums into sanctuaries, beaches into states of mind and three-minute songs into reminders that life is fragile, fleeting and worth celebrating at full volume.
Now, the newly minted Country Music Hall of Famer is pulling into a new port.
Chesney will release his 21st studio album, Silver Sands Marina, on September 25, an 11-song collection that promises to balance sun-soaked escapism with the harder-earned truths that linger after the party ends. With its official track list now revealed, the project features collaborations with Megan Moroney, Colbie Caillat and Lily Meola, along with titles that range from tender and reflective to delightfully strange.
And according to Chesney, the album did not fully reveal itself until the final songs fell into place.
“It’s funny how records show you who they are,” Chesney says. “And Silver Sands Marina came together in a whole other way when we found the title track, and a couple others.”
For Chesney, an album is more than a collection of songs gathered around a release date. It has to move with purpose. It has to feel lived in. Most importantly, every track has to earn its place.
“When we went in and cut those last three tracks, I realized: it’s like a rock in your shoe, it’ll bother you until it’s right when you’re dealing in songs,” he explains. “But when it’s right, you know.”
Eleven Songs, No Filler
Rather than stretching the project into an oversized playlist, Chesney intentionally kept Silver Sands Marina to 11 songs, giving each track room to breathe and allowing the album’s emotional arc to unfold without distraction.
The result appears to be a characteristically Chesney-like exploration of what it means to keep moving forward while still acknowledging everything that comes with you.
“Some of these songs are unlike anything people have heard, or haven’t heard in a long time,” he says. “Some of them go deep, some of them will make people turn it up, a few will make them laugh.”
Taken together, Chesney believes the songs offer something increasingly rare: an honest but hopeful reminder of how good it can feel simply to be alive.
“Together, I think they’ll remind them how great it is to be alive,” he adds. “Even on days where you need a song like ‘Carry On,’ we’re making the best of what we’ve got.”

The newly revealed track list includes three notable collaborations.
Megan Moroney appears on the wonderfully titled “It Just Got Weird,” a pairing that should immediately command attention. Moroney’s sharp lyrical instincts and dry sense of humor make her a natural match for a song that sounds primed to embrace life’s unexpected left turns.
Colbie Caillat joins Chesney on “What We Got Going On,” while Lily Meola appears on “Goldfish.” Both artists share Chesney’s gift for blending breezy melodies with deeper emotional undercurrents, suggesting the collaborations will feel less like traditional guest spots and more like natural extensions of the album’s world.
Elsewhere, titles such as “Burn My Boat,” “Sad Casino,” “Remember Me That Way” and “Shot Glass” hint at an album filled with escape, memory, regret and reinvention.
Then there is “Shot A Car Into Space,” a title so unexpected that it practically demands an immediate listen.
“Carry On” Sets the Course
The album’s lead single, “Carry On,” has already climbed into country radio’s Top 10, offering listeners a permission slip to trust their instincts, loosen their grip and continue forward even when life refuses to cooperate.
Built around the liberating philosophy, “If it feels good, do it; if it doesn’t, then don’t,” the song taps directly into the worldview Chesney has carried throughout his career: life is complicated, but joy does not have to be.
That does not mean ignoring sadness, frustration or uncertainty. Chesney’s greatest songs have always understood that celebration feels more powerful when it comes from someone who has also known loss.
“Sometimes the best medicine is just turning up the music, turning to the person next to you and singing out loud,” Chesney says. “Happy, mad, sad, it doesn’t really matter: music makes most things better.”
It may not fix what is broken, but it can make the weight easier to carry.
“Even if it can’t solve your problem, it’ll make your heart a little lighter,” he says. “And when it is feeling good, it’ll just take it to another level.”
Chesney Returns to TalkShopLive
Chesney will give fans a deeper look inside the making of Silver Sands Marina during a TalkShopLive event airing July 30. The conversation will explore the album’s creative process, its key songs and what Chesney hopes No Shoes Nation takes away from the project.
Fans will also have the opportunity to submit questions during the event.
Chesney previously used the platform to discuss his deeply personal book, Heart Life Music, and says the format allows him to move beyond the usual promotional talking points and dig into the stories behind the work.
“I loved talking about Heart Life Music on TalkShopLive, because it let me get inside what we were trying to do and the process,” he says. “It was a chance to show people how much telling my story meant to me, and I feel the same way about this record.”

TalkShopLive, alongside traditional signed vinyl editions and CDs.
A New Chapter After the Sphere
The announcement comes after Chesney completed his second residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas, another massive career milestone for an artist who has consistently expanded the boundaries of what a country music concert can look and feel like.
Yet Silver Sands Marina does not sound like the work of someone preoccupied with trophies, milestones or victory laps. It sounds like Chesney returning to the thing that started everything: finding songs capable of making people feel less alone.
The marina in the title may be imaginary, but the emotional destination is familiar. It is the place Chesney has been guiding listeners toward for years, somewhere between the rearview mirror and the open water, where the past still matters but the horizon remains wide open.
The boat is waiting. The music is turned up. All that is left to do is carry on.
