Lainey Wilson Sings Country Music With A Flare On "Bell Bottom Country"
One of country music's most highly anticipated albums is finally here. In what could easily be considered as one of 2022's best new releases, Lainey Wilson shares multiple dimensions of her story and perspective, showing the world what "country with a flare" means to her.
Last night, Wilson took to Instagram to officially introduce the new album. "Bell bottom country is country with a flare. It’s about what makes you (and me) unique. It’s how we live our lives and tell our stories, and I’ve lived quite a bit of life and have some stories to share on this record. I hope y’all dig it! Turn it UP!" she wrote.
One of the album's hardest-hitting and most fun tracks is "This One's Gonna Cost Me." She boldly opens and closes the track with the lyrics, "I could roll you up and smoke ya, babe / You know I'm sucker for a good high." Wilson sings of living in the moment and incorporating a healthy amount of recklessness into whatever she does. The country-pop tune will now become a staple in our playlists to scream and headbang along to. We highly recommend it for road trips, singing in the shower, and literally any context. As we welcome the height of fall, we're definitely gonna have this song blasting on our speakers.
Another standout includes "Atta Girl," a song which has undoubtedly already touched a plethora of hearts. For many women, it may be just what they need to hear right now. In this track, Wilson offers words of wisdom to empower women struggling with recent breakups. The lyrics read as advice one queen to another; they take an intimate yet direct approach. "He mighta took your love, mighta took your time / And the rug out from under your world / But he can't take all your happiness," Wilson reminds us. When we hear it from such a bright light like Wilson, it is much easier to believe that we are better off on our own. Especially for fans that can connect to "Atta Girl," it's impossible not to cry while listening.
Oh, and that's not all - Wilson will also embark on her Country With A Flare tour next year. (We see you Lainey, taking hints from Taylor Swift with all these late night/early morning surprise announcements. And you're iconic for that.) Special guests Ben Chapman, Meg McRee, and Leah Blevins will join her. The tour will span from January to March 2023, and tickets will go on sale in a week. We were already pumped about the album release, and now we know when we'll be able to hear the newly released masterpieces live!
Overall, in Bell Bottom Country, fans continue to enjoy her signature musical style, which blends retro, classic country, and mainstream elements to create something truly special. Wilson builds on the booming success of her debut, Sayin' What I'm Thinkin', with a poignant sophomore record. Wilson keeps the authentic storytelling, anecdotes from her upbringing, and conversational qualities that have never failed to draw listeners in. Sonically and thematically, the album contains a wide range, from the emotional "Atta Girl," to the upbeat "Grease," to the sentimental "These Boots (Deddy's Song)." In a triumphant sophomore project, Wilson cements her status as one of the industry's most talented and profound newcomers. Keep killing it, Lainey!
