Lainey Wilson and Bell Bottom Country where alive and well at the iconic Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth this past Friday September 8th. The Louisiana native proved why she is more than deserving of her nine CMA nominations including the coveted Entertainer of The Year.
"I sold merch for an artist at @billybobstexas hoping one day I’d be on the stage of the worlds largest honky tonk. Ten years later, we did that and sold it out. Keep on dreamin, folks," Lainey said in a social media video.
The night was full of songs and stories, and a few challenges. But in typical Lainey fashion, she pulled up her bootstraps and made the best of it. As a storm rolled though the Fort Worth area, the superstar didn't let her fans down during a forced acoustic set of the show due to lightening. Lainey kept the ball rolling even singing through a megaphone a cover of Keith Whitley’s iconic hit, When You Say Nothing At All.
After the power was restored Lainey kept the party going, including a surprise visit from Mr. Randy Travis. "It ain’t every night you get to bring out the legend @therandytravis nor sing through a megaphone but we covered both of those last night at @billybobstexas 😂 📢 Thank y’all for your patience while we waited for the power to kick back on…guess ya could say lightning likes us these days"
In Billy Bob's tradition the superstar also got to leave a permeant mark on the venue. Artists placing their hands in cement has been a tradition at Billy Bob’s for more than two decades. Many of the club's showcased artists have been honored with various awards and accolades. For some, however, their favorite honor is being part of what is now known as Billy Bob's 'Wall of Fame'.
"Some of my heart got stuck in that concrete too. I’ll have to come back for it I reckon🤠" Lainey commented on the post.
Louisiana native and reigning Female Vocalist and New Artist of the Year Lainey Wilson makes CMA Awards history yet again, becoming the only artist to top the nominations list in her first two appearances on the Final Ballot.
"Someone pinch me, I can't believe my eyes," Lainey said on her Instagram responding to the news. "Being nominated in each of these categories amongst my friends means the world to me. And the coveted Entertainer Of The Year category?! It’s absolutely surreal. We bust our butts out there on the road every dang night to give y’all the best show possible and I have the time of my life doing it. All I gotta say is thank y’all. I love country music." She also goes on to thank friends and collaborators HARDY and Jelly Roll for their part in her career.
Lainey is currently on tour with Hardy!
