Matt Warren, the indie Americana storyteller with a flair for heartfelt lyricism and multi-platinum songwriting chops, is back with a new EP, Heartbreak Superstar, set to release October 24. Blending the raw honesty of Laurel Canyon folk with the swagger of Otis Redding, Warren’s latest project promises to be both a sonic journey and a masterclass in emotional storytelling.
The five-track EP is anchored by the title track, Heartbreak Superstar, a song Warren calls “so near and dear to me” and admits he’s longed to share. “I’m glad Cliff and Oscar and the guys turned it into something better than I could have ever imagined,” he says, crediting producers Cliff Audretch and Oscar Charles for helping bring his vision to life.
Fans can expect standout collaborations, including "Long Story" featuring the resonant voice of Elvie Shane and "Dirt Road Runner", bolstered by Maggie Rose’s backing vocals. Other tracks, like the evocative "When My Baby Cries" and the nostalgic "Faded Blue Jean Heart", showcase Warren’s signature ability to weave narrative with melody, painting intimate portraits of love, loss, and everything in between.
