Our Favorite Moments From The 2023 CMT Music Awards

The fans have spoken and winners were revealed when the biggest names in music and entertainment gathered in Austin last night for the 2023 CMT MUSIC AWARDS. Co-hosted by Kane Brown and Kelsea Ballerini, the live show Austin featured epic performances, first-ever collaborations, and world premieres as part of country music’s entirely fan-voted awards show.

As the saying goes, everything is bigger in Texas, and the 2023 CMT Awards was bigger and better than ever!


Here are some of our favorite moments from the night!


Jelly Roll Winning His First CMT Music Award


Larger than life country star Jelly Roll kicked off the night with the first award. During the Red Carpet, CMT host Cody Allan was joined by Dixie D'Amelio to hand out the award for Digital-First Performance. Jelly, who thought he was only being interviewed, gave the best reaction to winning an award we have ever seen! "Wait, I am winning this award right now," he said in amazement.


Kelsea Ballerini Paying Tribute To Victims Of School Shootings

The night opened with a beautiful tribute to the Nashville shooting victims by Kelsea Ballerini. The night's host made a call to action while sharing her own personal account with gun violence through tears. Needless to say it was a beautiful tribute.


Lainey Wilson Performing Her Number One Hit "Heart Like A Truck"


The CMA Female Vocalist Of The Year is having one hell of a 2023! Fresh off a sold out headlining tour Lainey Wilson is on top! Right before her CMT performance, she found out that her smash hit was also now her 3rd number one on country radio!


Shania Twain Accepts the Equal Play Award


For nearly three decades Shania Twain has been pushing the boundaries of country music! Last night, the country music icon was awarded the Equal Play Award for being an advocate and trailblazer for women in the genre.

Carly Pearce Performs "What He Didn't Do"

Country songstress put on a vocal clinic with her number one hit "What He Didn't Do." The superstar also went on to later perform with Gwen Stefani.


Wynonna Judd Honors Late Mother With Ashley McBryde

Country music queens Wynonna Judd and Ashley McBryde teamed up for their powerful cover of the 1984 Foreigner hit "I Want To Know What Love Is" During the iconic performance Wynonna sang to her late mother Naomi Judd "Mama you should be here."


Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute Medley of “Simple Man” & “Sweet Home Alabama”



An all star group of performers closed the show with a BANG! A mix of rock and country artists closed out the 2023 CMT Music Awardswith a rousing tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd. The Southern rock outfit’s founding guitarist Gary Rossington, who was its last original member, died in March.
