Richard Marx Reveals Genre-Bending ‘Songwriter’ Album, And New Guitar Heavy Single "One Day Longer"
Richard Marx is no stranger to the country genre. Although he's best known for his pop and power ballads, he's also co-written Keith Urban's hit songs "Long Hot Summer," "Everybody" and "Better Life," as well as "Crazy" and "What About Me?" by Kenny Rogers and many more for artists.
In a career spanning nearly 40 years, first as a songwriter and session musician and later topping the charts with his own self-made hits, Richard Marx is back with a new album reflecting all the genres he’s perfected as a writer of songs on the aptly named Songwriter ,out Sept. 30, along with the timely summertime uplifting ballad "One Day Longer"
"One Day Longer" co-written alongside Keith Urban off his upcoming album Songwriter. This is 1 of 5 country songs off the album -- all of which showcase Marx's versatility as a songwriter.
The song is a refreshing take on the guitar heavy summertime songs that country fans have come a-custom too. With an almost Rob Thomas flair to him, Marx's storytelling and brightness shine through in this bright and uplifting new song.
The Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and producer said, in the July 15 announcement, “I’ve had such an amazing opportunity in my songwriting career to write all kinds of songs with, and for, all kinds of artists. It finally occurred to me that there was no reason not to record an album of my own that touches on multiple genres I love.”
Throughout his career, Marx—who has also written a No. 1 single in each of the last four decades, a mark only previously reached by Michael Jackson—has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, beginning with his 1987 self-titled debut, which birthed four Top 5 singles, including “Hold on to the Nights” and “Don’t Mean Nothing,” and his 1989 follow up Repeat Offender, which reached No. 1 with top charting singles “Satisfied” and “Right Here Waiting.”
With only 5 country songs on the new album out Sept 30, we are excited what other tricks Richard has up his sleeve.
This summer, Marx will head out on the road in Europe before returning to the US this fall for a run of US headlining tour dates. See the full list of tour dates below and more info here: https://richardmarx.com/tour/
