Sam Barber Battles Inner Thoughts Of Doubt In Powerful New Single "S.O.B."

The breakout talent dives into the deepest places of his mind in his introspective new track.

Oozing with blue collar sensibility, "S.O.B."is an anthem for all of us who have felt the woes of this world. Pride, grief and reflection dance through the lyrics as Sam grapples with the feeling of self-doubt. Produced by Eddie Spear (Zach Bryan, Brandi Carlile, Billie Eilish), “S.O.B” was teased by a series of social media posts that earned over 2.3M. Barber's innate ability to connect with fans through often taboo topics made fans beg for the new track.

"Every voice in my head is more than I can shake 'Til the liquor takes over and I cannot hold my weight," Barber sings with conviction. Underscored by melancholic acoustic guitars, and Sam's intoxicating grit, the Southeast Missouri native bares his innermost thoughts. Narrating a journey of a free spirit who seems to still feel tethered by his own mind, no matter how far he tries to move away from them. “Every step feels like barbed wire against my skin” is just one hook of many that are as powerful and deep as the structure of the song. 

"I wrote S.O.B. for anyone who puts themselves down on a day to day basis," Barber shared. "I personally think I do that to myself a lot. But I also think it is what drives me to get up and do what I do everyday. I just hope this song connects with you as much as it does with me," he continued.

Perhaps the magic in this project is that Sam is unafraid of sharing stories that matter to him and his fans. All too often, stories of the common fan are deafened in the genre. Yet, through vivid storytelling and his innate ability to tap in to the feelings of the everyday fan. Highlighted through powerful lyricism and brilliant melodies, the song is one that you do not just simply walk away from, proving that Sam in leading the charge in for the next generation of country stars.

Barber will spend much of his time on the road in coming months, highlighted by his biggest headline run thus far and his Stagecoach debut in April on the Palomino Stage. The epic Till I Return Tour gets underway February 22 with a sold-out show at Chattanooga, TN’s Barrelhouse Ballroom and then travels North America through mid-May. Most dates are now sold out, including shows at such legendary venues as Brooklyn, NY’s Music Hall of Williamsburg (March 23), West Hollywood, CA’s The Roxy Theatre (April 30), and Vancouver, BC's Commodore Ballroom (May 19).
