This week just got a whole lot better! On Monday Shania Twain made an announcement to Instagram:

“Every time I get to announce something like this I get such a rush of adrenaline and nerves - it never gets old... I am super excited to share with you that my new song 'Waking Up Dreaming' is coming out this Friday!! I've spent the last couple years working away on new music... on my documentary... on the Vegas residency and it's been such a creatively fulfilling time for me, I can't wait for this next chapter and Waking Up Dreaming is just the start.”

Yep, you read that right. Shania Twain is releasing new music and it comes out this Friday. The single “Waking Up Dreaming” comes after her documentary, “Not Just A Woman” which was released on Netflix earlier this Summer. Her Las Vegas residency has come to a close but Shania’s clearly not done working. The post seems to imply that this is not the only song that Miss Twain has been working on. In fact, it seems like Shania has entered a new creative chapter. We’re excited to see how this song is different from her previous work.

Known for hits such as “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!”, Twain dominated the country music scene in the 1990s and 2000s (and honestly, still does today). Throughout her career, Twain has won five Grammy Awards, eleven Billboard Music Awards, and a Hollywood Walk of Fame star among countless other accolades. Just last month, she accepted ACM’s Poet Award for her impeccable songwriting skills, and next month, she’ll be inducted into the Nashville Songwriters’ Hall of Fame. A timeless icon, if we do say so ourselves.

Shania hasn't released a new album since 2017’s Now. Could “Waking Up Dreaming” be a precursor to a new album? We sure hope so! Only time will tell. Until then we’ll be playing “Waking Up Dreaming” on repeat.
