Slade Coulter and Ashland Craft Stun in Emotional Ballad "Lesson I Ain't Learned"
Rising stars Slade Coulter and Ashland Craft just dropped their breathtaking collaboration today. The ballad, entitled “Lesson I Ain’t Learned,” features Coulter’s flawless songwriting and Josh Serrato’s sensational production.
With an angelic yet distinctive voice, Coulter is quickly climbing the ranks in the genres of country and Americana. Today’s new track precedes the release of his highly anticipated debut album, Best Of Me. Buddy Holly, Waylon Jennings, Pat Green, Charlie Shafter, and Wade Bowen heavily influence the Texan singer/songwriter’s unique style. He brings a radiant, upbeat energy to his live shows.
The release of “Lesson I Ain’t Learned” perfectly coincides with Craft’s first of two nights opening for the Grammy-nominated Marcus King in New York City. It also falls shortly after the 1-year anniversary of her debut album, Travelin’ Kind. American Songwriter has deemed Craft the “new country badass in town,” praising the “star quality flying out of her boots.” CMT included her in their Next Women of Country Class of 2021. This South-Carolina born singer has previously opened for Ashley McBryde, Brothers Osborne, Cody Johnson, Zac Brown Band, Luke Combs, and Morgan Wallen.
Two powerful lines that Craft sings, “And now this house is haunted/I can’t seem to get no sleep at all” and “I handed you my heart/And you chose to let it bleed,” especially stand out and summarize the song well.
Together, Coulter and Craft have created a chilling, painfully relatable tune surely to resonate with a variety of listeners. Coulter’s genius songwriting and the duo’s heartfelt singing shines through. The acoustic guitar base combined with several other somber instrumentals adds to the tune’s haunting effect. Both Coulter and Craft once again prove their status as two of country music’s next big stars.
