Good Scentiments Teams Up With Scotty Hasting To Honor Veterans With GRATEFUL Candle

Good Scentiments is proud to introduce GRATEFUL, a candle created in collaboration with Purple Heart recipient and artist Scotty Hasting. With the warm, grounding scents of sandalwood and amber, GRATEFUL is designed to inspire reflection, gratitude, and resilience.

Scotty’s story is one of courage, survival, and the healing power of music. As an Army Infantryman with the 1st Infantry Division, 4th Squadron, 4th Cavalry, he survived a life-threatening combat incident in Afghanistan. During his recovery, he found solace in music, releasing songs that honor his experiences and the sacrifices of his fellow soldiers.

In his song Stories That They Tell, Scotty reflects on the bonds of service and the memories of those lost: the stories of going through hell, the unwavering courage of his comrades, and the way they keep the memory of fallen friends alive. As he sings, these soldiers “sure do miss ’em but they keep ’em all living in the stories that they tell.” These words echo the heart of GRATEFUL, a candle that invites us to pause, reflect, and honor the resilience and bravery of veterans.

Beyond it's fragrance, GRATEFUL also gives back. $5 from every candle sold supports The Stories That They Tell Program, part of Bluestar Counseling and Wellness. Founded by Nancy Kreston, the mother of Scotty’s best friend Adam Hamilton, who was lost in Afghanistan, the program encourages veterans to write and share their experiences, helping to alleviate PTSD and depression. It's name is inspired directly by Scotty’s song, celebrating the courage of those who continue to live and tell their stories.

With Veterans Day approaching, GRATEFUL is a reminder to honor the strength, courage, and stories of those who serve. Lighting this candle supports healing, community, and the enduring power of storytelling.
