JUST IN: Cody Johnson Announces Next Single & Confirms Cover Album "I'm Covering George Strait"

It is no surprise that Cody Johnson is one of the biggest names in country right now and for good reason! Steadfast in playing "real country music" the Texas native is ready to give us his latest offering!

Cody recently stat down with iHeart's Spencer Graves to chat this humble beginnings and where he is headed. Covering topics like his prison job while trying to make it in music. How his sweet wife had two jobs while Cody followed his dreams, and new music.

"August 14th we have a new single going to radio. It's called The Painter." But thats not all. For a few months now, Cody has been hinting at a new album that features both Carrie Underwood and Brooks & Dunn, that we now know is the new album Leather. But Cody who is known for his classic country covers is FINALLY giving us what we want!

"I'm not sure if it will be November or December, the first part of my deluxe album will come out, and I've been secretly behind everybody's back recording in 24 Track Deluxe album. I'm doing a concept album called The Cowboy Sessions, and it's nothing but old cowboy songs like Marty Robbins and Willie Nelson," Johnson says with a smile on his face!

I'm covering Chris Ledoux, I'm covering, you know, George Strait. I'm covering Tom Russell and all these stuff. In my future, I think a bluegrass album, I think a gospel album, uh, it'd be really fun one time to just record a full blown, like rock album," Johnson continues.

Fans have been begging for a cover album after the viral success of Cody's cover of Gary Stewart's 1975 track She's Actin' Single (I'm Drinking Doubles) and The Chicks hit Travelin' Soldier.

To say we are amped for these new projects is a MASSIVE understatement!
