Lainey Wilson Reflects on Her Upcoming CMA Performance and 9 Nominations "9 Is My Lucky Number"

The reigning Female Vocalist and New Artist of the Year Lainey Wilson makes CMA Awards history yet again, becoming the only artist to top the nominations list in her first two appearances on the Final Ballot.
"Someone pinch me, I can't believe my eyes," Lainey said on her Instagram responding to the news of being nominated. "Being nominated in each of these categories amongst my friends means the world to me. And the coveted Entertainer Of The Year category?! It’s absolutely surreal. We bust our butts out there on the road every dang night to give y’all the best show possible and I have the time of my life doing it. All I gotta say is thank y’all. I love country music." She also goes on to thank friends and collaborators HARDY and Jelly Roll for their part in her career.

Today, she opened up about her massive success and let fans know what they can expect from her CMA performance. "This is year two of being nominated for anything at the CMA's and we have the most nominations," she says. "It completely blows my mind. But nine is my lucky number. Nine is the year I wrote my first song, came to Nashville for the first time, got my first pair of bell bottoms and got my horse. So it is looking pretty good. I do feel like I got alot of love and support in this town."

Lainey will also be taking the stage on Wednesday to perform Wildflowers and Wild Horses off her record breaking album Bell Bottom Country. "It's a nod to where I come from and the people who raised me," she tells CMA. "I would not be who I am without those folks!" The song touches on the pride that Lainey has coming from a long line of hard headed tough folks. "I am excited to get out there and sing about the kind of people that I come from." Lainey also promises that the performance will be both fiery and fun!
In true Lainey spirit, the humble artist says the thing she is most looking forward to for Wednesday night is just being with her friends.
Lainey Wilson topped the nominations list with six nods as a first-time nominee. She now ties Merle Haggard and Miranda Lambert with nine nominations in a single year (Alan Jackson holds the record with 10 nominations in 2002).
