With illustrative verses and a catchy hook, “Mess Me Up” takes a tried-and-true format to new heights. The track showcases his irresistible croon against captivating country-pop production, overall yielding a masterpiece that’s guaranteed to be stuck in your head. The heartthrob’s stunning delivery accentuates the burning passion and lust for a girl that he can’t seem to let go of. Lyrically, it reminds us of “Last Night” by Morgan Wallen; sonically, it echoes Dustin Lynch (whom he actually co-wrote “Party Mode” for!).
Showing immense promise in his genre, Alexander has featured on NBC’s Today Show, Spotify’s Hot Country Artists to Watch 2021, Spotify’s US Viral 50 list, and Spotify's Hot Country playlist. He’s scored collaborations with Alana Springsteen (“Trying Not To”) and Ashley Cooke (“Between You And Me”), the latter of which reached the Top 10 of Rolling Stone’s Trending 25 chart.
For fans of Dan + Shay and Keith Urban, Alexander’s music would be right up their alley - their producer Jordan Minton also worked on “Mess Me Up” with the Grammy-winning Josh Kerr. “I loved watching ‘Mess Me Up’ come to life in the studio.” shared Alexander in a recent press release. “Josh Kerr and Jared Keim were really able to give it a modern feel but still keep all the country undertones that I think pair well with how I like to sing it. The intro to the song is unmistakable."
The heartthrob’s charismatic vocal delivery and unmatched drive allows his work to stand out, and “Mess Me Up” is no different. Using a familiar style to vividly convey his own stories, Alexander is well on his way towards becoming a household name. As we can’t take this song off repeat, we can’t wait to see what’s next for this rising star.
