Shaboozey Plants New Roots with Record Label American Dogwood

Shaboozey isn’t just rewriting the playbook, he’s building his own library. After a year that’s seen him shatter records, rake in accolades, and cement himself as one of country’s most innovative disruptors, the genre-bending star is adding another title to his resume: label head. His freshly minted imprint, American Dogwood, launches in partnership with EMPIRE, the indie powerhouse that’s been home base for Shaboozey’s own meteoric rise.

True to its name, American Dogwood is designed to bloom from Shaboozey’s roots, blending the storytelling traditions of Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic with a fiercely modern, genre-crossing outlook. Co-founded alongside trusted collaborators Jared Cotter and Abas Pauti (both industry veterans with multi-platinum credentials), the label aims to provide fertile ground for artists who defy convention. EMPIRE will handle the infrastructure, while Shaboozey and team focus on the art.

The first artist to step into the spotlight? Rising songwriter Kevin Powers, whose “Southern Pop” sound threads together country grit, pop polish, and hip-hop swagger, making him a natural fit for Shaboozey’s world. Powers, a Raleigh native turned Nashville hitmaker, has already proven his pen with viral singles like “Walked In” and “How You Been?,” not to mention a co-write on Shaboozey and Jelly Roll’s 2025 smash “Amen.”

Together, Shaboozey and Powers christen the label with “Move On” a breakup anthem about the uneven pace of healing when love falls apart. The track drops September 19, giving fans a first taste of what American Dogwood is all about: boundary-pushing sounds rooted in honesty.

For Shaboozey, the vision is bigger than one song. "“American Dogwood is a tribute to where we come from, and to the artists, storytellers, and creators who make this life remarkable. Our mission is to nurture the next generation of voices and to give them a place to grow, connect, and create. This is the beginning of a new chapter - one I hope always feels like home.”

Powers echoes the sentiment: “I couldn’t be more excited to join the American Dogwood family. My first release, “Move On” featuring Shaboozey, is about what happens when a relationship ends - how some people can let go, while others hold on longer than they should. It’s a story I think a lot of people will connect with, and I couldn’t imagine a better way to begin this journey than sharing it with Shaboozey by my side.”

With a mission rooted in artist ownership, integrity, and storytelling, American Dogwood is poised to be more than just another label, it’s a cultural statement. If Shaboozey’s career thus far is any indication, expect American Dogwood to flourish into a canopy for the voices shaping the future of country, Americana, and beyond.
