LISTEN! Clever Stirs the Soul with Haunting New Ballad “Still”

With the emotional intensity of a midnight confession and the lyrical punch of a modern-day country poet, genre-defying artist Clever returns with his latest single, “Still” a stripped-down, piano-driven ballad that captures the raw ache of a love that refuses to let go.

Known for pushing the boundaries between hip-hop, country, and pop, Clever leans fully into heartbreak on this release, unspooling a story of memory, regret, and longing that clings long after love has left the building.

“‘Still’ is a song about loving someone long after they've stopped loving you,” Clever shares. “It's a memory that refuses to fade.”

Co-written alongside Lecade, Paul Wrock, and Forrest Finn, “Still” showcases Clever at his most vulnerable. Sparse in production but heavy in emotional weight, the track invites listeners into the quiet hours where pain speaks loudest, the moments when you’re alone with the ghosts of what could’ve been.

Each line stings with startling clarity, offering a gut-wrenching portrayal of someone stuck in a loop of “what ifs,” unable to move on from a love that’s long since moved on. Whether it’s the pain of watching an ex dance with someone new or fielding questions from a well-meaning mom who still hasn’t adjusted to the new reality, Clever makes heartbreak feel cinematic and heartbreakingly familiar.

Vocally, Clever’s delivery is raw and raspy, each note cracked open with emotion. His voice doesn’t just tell the story, it lives it. And while the production remains minimal, it’s intentional: the piano does just enough to hold the melody, leaving space for the emotion to breathe.

Whether you’re nursing an old wound or just appreciate a damn good song, “Still” hits in all the right (and wrong) places. Because sometimes the ones we can’t forget are the ones who never come back. And yet, we wait, still.
