Cody Johnson and Wyatt Flores Will Join the King for a Historic Night in Clemson.

There’s something about a George Strait show that feels like time slows down, the lights, the crowd, the quiet authority of a man who never has to raise his voice to command 70,000 people. In 2026, that magic will return to Clemson, South Carolina, as Strait brings his in-the-round stadium show to Memorial Stadium affectionately known as “Death Valley” for one night only on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
It’s more than a concert announcement. It’s a full-circle moment.
The last time Death Valley hosted a show was in 1999, and the headliner was of course George Strait. Twenty-seven years later, he’s coming back to the same field that once roared for “Amarillo by Morning” and “Check Yes or No,” this time joined by Cody Johnson and Wyatt Flores, two artists who carry the torch Strait first lit.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. ET on Friday, October 31, 2025, via Ticketmaster, and if history is any indication, they won’t last long.

The Legend Who Still Packs Stadiums
In 2024, Strait reminded the world just how powerful his presence is, performing one of the largest single-ticketed concerts in U.S. history at Texas A&M’s Kyle Field, where over 110,905 fans gathered for George Strait: The King at Kyle Field.
Since then, he’s played just a handful of carefully chosen stadium shows five, to be exact in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Foxborough, and Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium. Each night, critics and fans alike walked away reminded that country music’s quietest performer might just be its loudest legacy.
A Year of Honors Fit for a King
If 2026 is shaping up to be a banner year for George Strait, it’s because 2025 is ending like one. This December, he’ll be celebrated at the 47th Annual Kennedy Center Honors, recognizing his lifetime of contributions to American culture through the performing arts, a recognition long overdue for a man who’s spent his career elevating the genre without ever chasing its trends.
Then, early next year, Strait will be inducted into the Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame, honoring not just his voice but the timeless pen behind it, the one that helped shape modern country’s blueprint.
The King Still Rules
When the lights rise over Memorial Stadium next May, it won’t just mark a return to Death Valley. It’ll mark the continuation of a legacy, one that bridges generations, genres, and geography.
Cody Johnson brings the grit. Wyatt Flores brings the heart. And George Strait? He brings the crown.
On May 2, 2026, Clemson will once again belong to The King.
